Building the Konso Visual Archives

17-31 May 2012. This exhibition, organized by the Konso Cultural Centre (Karat, Konso) and the Italian Cultural Institute (Addis Ababa), displays a series of selected photographs, which focus on the activities promoted by the Konso Cultural Centre in the town of Konso.

Konso, also known as Karati, was named after the Konso people and is located on the Sagan River on southwestern Ethiopia. It is known for its religious traditions, its waga sculptures and its fossil beds, an archeological site of early hominids, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.
