Cairo International Women's Film Festival

Some 60 films directed by women from 40 countries. This year the festival focuses on films from Germany with Andersen, Majub's Journey, Two at the Border, Clinical Romance and Broken Glass Park, all made in 2013. There are eight Egyptian films, produced in 2013 and 2014.

A false;" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClVBIBncGZs">controversial video for the festival focuses on the creativity of women, showing a woman giving birth not to a baby but to a poster advertising the festival. Those against the spot claim that it goes beyond the bounds of decency, those in favour that it shows that women are creative in more ways than one.

The film screenings, many of which will be followed by question and answer sessions, are showing in English and Arabic at the Falaski theatre at the American University in Cairo campus, the Cairo Opera House and the Goethe Institute.
