Cairo's Zawya cinema screens animation films

A weekend of short and feature length animated films by Arab and international film makers with discussions following the screenings.

The Arab shorts include a selection from Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Palestine and Jordon. The final day sees the screen of the Belgium feature Approved for Adpotion.

Zawya, which opened earlier this year for the specific purpose of showing alternative films not on the usual distribution circuits, is a Misr International Films (MIF) initiative. It will also focus on the subject of education and cinema, working with Cairo's schools and universities.

MIF was founded by the late Egyptian filmmaker Youssef Chahine and is one of the most pretigious films companies in the Middle East.

Zawya is located at the Odeon on 4 Abdel al-Hamid Said Street.
