26 July-15 Nov 2008. The Cape Town Concert Series second season 2008 presents an exciting programme of classical music over a five-month period. The series opens on 26 July with a performance by the Hungarian pianist Libor Novacek of works by Haydn, Brahms and Liszt. He is followed on 23 Aug by the debut performance in Cape Town of the newly reconstituted Odeion String Quartet comprising Denise Sutton and Sharon de Kock (violins), Jeanne-Louise Moolman (viola) and Anmari van der Westhuizen (cello) with a programme of works by Haydn, Beethoven and Brahms. 23 Sept sees violinist Daniel Rowland and pianist Pieter Jacobs performing Mozart, Richard Strauss, Debussy, Chausson and Saint-Saens, then on 18 Oct young Chinese pianist Chun Wang plays works by Mozart, Chopin, Albeniz and Prokofiev. The series ends on 15 Nov with Kai Vogler (violin) and Peter Bruns (cello), founders of the Schloss Moritzburg Chamber Music Festival, together with Pieter Schoeman (piano), performing Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Brahms. 20.00.
