4-23 Sept 2006. The Cape Town International Comedy Festival celebrates its tenth anniversary with five separate programmes featuring acts from seven different countries. The line-up includes British comedian Julian Clary, top Canadian comedian Sugar Sammy, Aussie ace Charles Pickering and local heroes Mark Banks, Kagiso Lediga and John Vlismas. The Baxter Theatre hosts the family-oriented Main Arena programme while the more adult Danger Zone will play in the Baxter Concert Hall. Other venues include the BMW Theatre@thePavilion at the V&A Waterfront, which will stage the new Queercom programme featuring some of the worlds top gay comedians and the weekend-only Very Late Show hosted by South African comics Corne and Twakkie and featuring a variety of local and international acts. The Waterfront will also host street performers. Each Sun the most popular acts from the previous week will be repeated in a Best of the Festival show allowing festival-goers the opportunity of sampling the various programmes with one ticket.
