Cape Town marathon 2014

The Cape Town marathon, which has been a fixture since 2007, runs over a flat and fast course designed to give both experienced runners fast timings and beginners a good introductory experience.

The 42.2 km run starts and finishes at Cape Town in Green Point, goes through the CBD and passes many of the city's key tourist sites. Runners have eight hours to complete the race which starts at 7.30.

The 10 km Peace Run, which also starts and finishes at the Cape Town Stadium, begins 30 minutes earlier than the full marathon. There are four other races the previous day, the two Peace Trail runs in Table Mountain National Park and two short courses in the Green Point Urban Park.

There are also three one-mile invitation races – the Men's Mile, the Women's Mile and the University Mile for elite athletes.

For details see the marathon website.
