Cape Town Race Week

16-19 Dec. The 2017 edition of the Maserati Cape Town Race Week takes place in Table Bay Harbour from 16-19 December and this year will include 33 yachts.
Organised by the Royal Cape Yacht Club, the annual end-of-year regatta began in 1974 as the Rothmans Race Week. Over the decades the event's name has changed several times but it continues to attract some of the best professional sailors in South Africa. In recent years it has attracted an increasing number of sailors based in Europe and the US where the sailing season is currently stopped for winter.
The fleet of boats can be observed from numerous vantage points around the bay, and the regatta's winner will be announced on the evening of 19 December.
In November Cape Town welcomed the Volvo Ocean Race, one of the biggest sailing events on the international sailing calendar.
