28-30 April 2007. The faculty of literature at the University of Cairo is hosting an international symposium on comparative literature and linguistics. Speakers include Tiziana Carlino, professor of comparative literature at the university of Oriental Studies in Naples, Marco Di Branco, professor of Byzantine history and archaeology and the university of Basilicata, and Giuseppe Scattolin, lecturer in Islamic mysticism at the Pontifical Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies. The event is being organised in conjunction with the Italian cultural institute (IIC) in Cairo. Daily sessions begin at 09.00. Entrance free.
