Cosmetics exhibition in Accra

The first African cosmetics exhibition and conference to promote beauty products using shea butter and other natural ingredients.

About 1,000 visitors are expected, from cosmetic manufacturers to government officials.

The shea industry is important to Ghana's rural economy, employing over 600,000 women in some 66 districts although they are often the last people to benefit from its production.

Shea, extracted from the nut of the shea tree, is also used in cooking and pharmaceuticals.

The event is supported by the US Agency for International Development.
