23 January-24 February 2011. This exhibition, entitled The Sugar Canes (Sweet Ruminations), shows the recent series of paintings by the Nairobi-based, American painter Elaine Kehew for the first time in Nairobi.

The artist explores and depicts the possible evolutions of sugar cane from classical still life to contemporary grids of linoleum printing. Elaine was initially interested in the canes for their formal properties: their cylindrical shape, the way the sun illuminates their segmented forms, etc.
