Electro Comes to Ghana

The first electro festival in Accra is staged at the Alliance Française.

One of the highlights is the Kenyan Just a Band, a house/funk/disco group that plays on 25 Oct. As well as concerts there are electronic music workshops and demonstrations.

An opportunity for producers is the Roots of Azonto event (24 Oct) in which Akwaaba SoundSystem will share its soundbank of Ghanaian percussion music free of charge.

Akwaaba was started in San Francisco four years ago by French-born DJ Benjamin Lebrave to share and distribute African music online, as well as to promote and market local musicians and their music. Its website has sound tracks and artists' bios from 20 African countries. Two years ago Lebrave moved to live in Ghana.
