18-24 September 2012. This exhibition displays the latest paintings and drawings on Dar es Salaam’s flora and fauna by Sarah Markes.

Merkes has spent her past years at exploring and illustrating Dar es Salaam. She has been initially inspired by the city’s street life, which has undergone in the past years a fast process of urban development and demolition.

This series immortalizes coconut palms around the shore, fish eagles and butterflies caught on the sea breeze and flowers growing along the roadsides.
