Farouk Hosni

New paintings by Egypt's one-time minister of culture.

This is the first exhibition that Hosni has had in Egypt since he was ousted from office during the 2011 revolution that toppled President Mubarak.

The works in the exhibition mark a change of style for the artist who has been previously known for his abstract works.

Hosni was best known internationally for his tireless campaign for the return of priceless Egyptian antiquities in foreign museums.

Hosni was the Egyptian cultural attache in Paris and the director of the Egyptian Cultural Academy in Rome before becoming the minister of culture under the then president Mubarak in 1987.
