Festival of Music Crossroads Southern Africa in Zimbabwe.
24-27 May 2007. Young bands from Mozambique are to compete against their counterparts from Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia in the eighth InterRegional Festival of Music Crossroads Southern Africa (MCSA) in Harare. Participants must be no older than 25 and have been selected through national competitions, with two bands representing each country. The line-up also includes four top bands from the host country Zimbabwe. Together they will perform a variety of music styles, including ethnic/traditional, pop, rock and hip-hop. MCSA is a good springboard for emerging talent: last year the 2005 winner, Tanzanian afrofusion band Afrikali, performed in 40 gigs on an international tour, while the 2006 winner, the seven-piece Malawian afro-pop band Konga Vibes, will be on tour in Europe from 7 June-28 July 2007.
