10-12 March 2006. Each year the Kenya Museum Society organises an art show and sale to highlight the diversity of Kenyan art and to raise funds for the National Museums of Kenya, the umbrella body for regional museums, sites and monuments across the country. Over 150 Kenyan artists have been invited to submit work for this years edition in a wide range of media including glass, fabric, photography, painting and sculpture. The museum society takes 25-30 per cent on all sales and is hoping to raise in the region of Ksh350,000. The Kenya Museum Society was founded in 1971 to raise funds and provide operational assistance to the National Museums of Kenya. The Nairobi museum is closed for renovation (see News) so the sale is being held outside over two days rather than the usual two weeks. Gala opening 10 March, 18.00-21.00. Sale 11-12 March, 09.00-16.30.
