Ghana Music Awards

The publication of nominations for the 14^th edition of Vodaphone Ghana Music awards. The event, which is sponsored by Vodaphone, is organised by the Ghana musicians’ union, the ministry of tourism and the creative arts and events company, Charterhouse, which launched in 2000 with the first Ghana Music Awards.

Nominations are for works by musicians and recording companies released between 1 Jan and 31 December 2013. The awards are for the best song and best single artist in the following categories; hip life, hip hop, gospel, hi-life, Afro pop, reggae and traditional. There is also an award for the best group and the best collaboration of the year. Voting is both by qualified jury and the public.

The purpose of the Ghana Music Awards – the most important annual event for the country’s musicians – is to encourage local talent and to create an international platform for the Ghanaian music industry.
