The most important event in the Ghana music season gets underway on 1 April.
There are numerous sections up for awards, each of which is divided into best female and male artist and best song. The categories in each section include hip-hop, gospel, highlife, Afro pop, reggae and traditional.
The awards are sponsored by Vodafone and include best Vodafone song of the year, best album, best record and best collaboration.
There are at least five nominations in each section and in the Vodafone best song section there are ten.
Voting is both by qualified jury and the public.
