Goat Races

The 14th edition of the annual Dar es Salaam Charity Goat Races raises money for charity. As well as betting on the goats there are other events such as fancy dress competitions, raffles, games for children and refreshments.

If you bet on a winning goat you will get a return on your money, if you bet on a losing goat your money goes to a charity. There are seven races with 10 goats competing in each race.

Since the goat races started in 2001 the event has raised money for over 60 small and local charities. In 2013 money from the races totalled over TZS 135 million.
