This exhibition pays homage to art, décor, bags, sandals and unique handmade jewellery from Italy. On display are leather accessories by African Lily, a small, luxury leather enterprise, run by two Italian experts in this sector, who specialise in producing ladies’ wallets, purses, handbags, men’s wallets, travel and document holders and belts, handmade in Kenya by more than 12 skilled Kenyan employees as well as by a group of women from the Kibera slums affected by HIV/AIDS; a series of stationery items, covered with leather and ethnic fabric and craftwork, by Artwork from Africa, a small craft workshop, which exclusively employs the craft work of Kenyan artisans; a large range of accessories, which range from computer cases, handbags, yoga bags and beauty cases, created with traditional African fabrics, by Kizimwi Designs, designed by the Kenya-based, Italian artist Benedetta Giuliani; a necklace collection, called Le Collane di Betta, which fuses ancient mystique, natural form and symbolism, designed by the Roman jeweller Elisabetta Capolino and created by African craftspeople, using eco-friendly materials and fair trade items; a series of hand-embroidered jewels, by Teresa and Francesca, who used curls, silk, gloss stones, Swarovski crystals, Italian glass, colourful ceramic, elegant vintage metal details, romantic natural Shiva shell and elegant cabochons.
