Italian Movie Night during European Union Week

On occasion of the European Union Week, the Italian embassy in Accra proposes an Italian Movie Night with La Seconda Notte di Nozze by Pupi Avati, set in Italy at the end of world war two. Liliana, a widow, and her son Nino, suffer from great financial hardship and are forced to move from Bologna to Puglia, into the farm of Liliana’s mentally fragile brother-in-law, Giordano. Liliana’s arrival awakens the bitterness of her two elderly aunts, Santina and Eugenia, who bear a deep grudge against Liliana’s family. This movie was nominated at the Venice Film Biennale in 2005 and the main actress, Katia Ricciarelli, was awarded the Nastro d´Argento for best actress. The movies are in Italian with English subtitles.

19.00.
