22 Nov 2009. Pack a picnic basket and head off to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Newlands, where South African music icon, Johnny Clegg, will entertain his audience in true South African summer style.

This live stage performance, which opens the 2009-2010 Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts season (22 Nov-4 April 2010), begins at 17.30 and will feature the typically South African sounds for which Clegg has claimed international recognition.

Affectionately known as the White Zulu, Clegg is not just a vocalist but he also dances and writes his own songs and his music is an exciting blend of contemporary pop and African Zulu rhythms. It now seems that his son Jesse is following in his footsteps. Jesse has already had his hit single Today reach the top of the charts on South African radio. Watch this talented young star perform at one of the Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts on 6 December.

The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens covers 528 hectares and hosts a wide variety of fynbos flora and natural forest. This jewel of the Cape is open all year round and has a visitors centre, several restaurants, an environment education programme and venues for hire.

Tickets cost R95 per person or R80 for students. For more information, call 021 799 8783 or visit www.sanbi.org Tickets for the sunset concerts can be purchased from the Tuesday prior to the concert. Book online: www.webtickets.co.za
