9-16 Dec. This edition of the traditional biennial Kwani Literary Festival, organized by Kwani Trust, will focus on several geopolitical trends and shifts in Kenya’s immediate north to host literary conversations with the Horn of Africa.
Its intent is to create a platform, in which the story of the Horn of Africa can be analysed by literature experts and writers. It foresees a series of public lectures, conferences with writers, readings, performances, art exhibitions and film screenings.
Among the participating writers are Hadraawi, Warsan Shire, Sayadin Hersi, Awes Osman, Deqa Abshir, Altayeb Daw Elbeit, Yassir Ali and Said Juma Hussein from Somalia, Chehem Watta from Djibouti, Ermais Ekube and Meaza Worku from Ethiopia, Alemseged Tesfai from Eritrea, Nawal El Saadawi from Egypt, Kojo Laing from Ghana, Helon Habila from Nigeria, Jamal Mahjoub, Altayeb Daw Elbeit, Yassir Ali and Fawaz El Said from Sudan.

The festival takes place at various venues around Nairobi, including the Kifaru Gardens, Kwani Garden, National Museum, University of Nairobi, Goethe Institut, Kuona Trust, Habesha, Kibera, KICC Helipad, Eastleigh and South B.
