3-9 April 2010. The third Lagos Black Heritage Cultural Festival has the theme Memory and Performance in the Return to Source. Events will centre on the town of Badagry near the border with Benin, which was a key point of departure for African slaves destined for the Americas before becoming an important Christian mission station following the abolition of slavery in the mid-19th century. The festival will focus on broadening and deepening the links between Africa and its diaspora through a programme of traditional and contemporary dance, music, drama, film screenings, exhibitions and other initiatives. For information see the Badagry local government website.
