7-12 August 2006. Lola Kenya Childrens Screen is a new annual film festival, market and production workshop for children and young adults. In this first edition emphasis will be placed on independent African films made for and by children. Prizes will be awarded to the best short film (max 30 minutes), best animated film and experimental film. Lola derives from the Bantu word meaning watch, see or look; and the festival aims to encourage new talent and build an audience for African films in local languages. The films made during the production workshops will be screened at the festival before being presented around the world. Screenings are at Goethe-Institut and Alliance Franaise. Admission free.
