Maboneng Township Arts Experience

Maboneng annual open house art exhibitions.

29 Nov. Houses in Gugulethu Township are converted into art galleries and stages to encourage neighbourhood creativity and appreciation for the arts. This year's theme is Town and Township.

20 houses in Gugulethu will display the work of local and international artists. These include murals, performance street art, live music and dance.

For the first time this year there are also Meditation Homes where the owners will lead meditation sessions, along with screening of the film Soft Vengeance, Albie Sach's film of his journey into meditation in South Africa.

The Maboneng Township Arts Experience, which also a similar event in Alexandra Township in Johannesburg, has also partnered with the Cape Town International Dance Festival this year.

Shuttle buses for Gugulethu are available from the Cape Town's city sightseeing office on the corner of Long and Shortmarket streets.
