14 October-14 October 2011. The Iziko Social History Collections department presents this permanent exhibition, entitled Mapping Bo-Kaap: History, Memories and Spaces, which was inspired by a mapping survey project conducted over the past years by vidamemoria heritage consultants in the Bo-Kaap or Cape Malay Quarter in Cape Town.

The purpose of this event is to offer a glimpse into the history of this area and reproduce the nature and location of its important sites. Residents of the Bo-Kaap were asked to identify areas that have special heritage significance for them. On display are also some historic and contemporary photographs of the neighbourhood, then and now.
