Mario Biondi on Concert

4 Dec. This charity jazz event, entitled Live in Concert, is performed by the internationally acclaimed Italian singer and composer Mario Biondi.

Biondi will be accompanied by Claudio Filippini at the piano, Luca Florian at the percussions, Daniele Scannapieco at the saxophone, Tommaso Scannapieco at the double bass and Lorenzo Tucci at the drums. Biondi, born in Catania, Sicily, in 1971, has developed his passion for music since the age of 12, when he sang at the church choir. He later worked as a session singer during Ray Charles’ Italian concerts. His deep love for soul music helped him shape his particular vocal styling, which is inspired by great vocalists of the caliber of Lou Rawls, Al Jarreau and Isaac Hayes.

In 2004 he reached a great international success with his single That Is What You Are, which brought the British Consulate to award him during the ceremony for Best Artist representing the Uk-Italy Business Association. In 2006 he recorded the album Handful Of Soul along with the High Five Quintet as well as L’Amore Ha Sempre Fame (Love is Always Hungry), conceived as a tribute to the dead singer Alex Baroni. In 2007 he recorded some successful covers, including Just The Way You Are and I Love You More. With The Walt Disney Company he also recorded some songs for the Italian version of the classical animation movie The Aristocats. In 2009 he released the successful album If.
