19 July 2007. Mary Boyoi is one of several Kenya-based Sudanese musicians who will be performing in a concert sponsored by the embassy of Sudan in Nairobi. Born in Malakal, south Sudan, in 1980, she spent much of her early life on the move and in refugee camps to escape the civil war (1983-2005). She settled in Nairobi in 2001 and subsequently began working with humanitarian agencies in south Sudan. She released her first album,
