Mulugeta Tafesse graduated from the Fine Arts School in Addis Ababa but has spent much of his life in Europe, particularly in Belgium.
His mainly figurative works are in soft greys, greens, browns and blues.
In his cityscapes, which are worked in the same attenuated colours of his portraits, lonely figures or groups huddle together at the edges of long lines of seemingly anonymous buildings or highways.
