One Beat Musical Competition

16 January-24 February 2012. The Public Affair Office of the US Embassy of Nairobi launches an open competition, called One Beat, which will bring together musicians from various countries around the world to visit the United States.

This international music exchange project will offer more than 50 young professional musicians, aged 19 to 35, a residency and tour program focused on creative collaboration and social engagement.

Musicians will be selected for their stylistically, lyrically or technologically innovative skills. In the US they will work together with their American counterparts in the composition and the performance of new cross-genre works, the creation of innovative recordings & videos, and the development of practices of music as civic and social engagement.

Applications are open until 24 February 2012.

The One Beat Project will take place from 11 September to 7 October 2012.
