Projection of Memory Books

5 Mar. On occasion of the International Women’s Day, Goethe Institut organizes the screening of the German documentary movie Memory Books, directed by Christa Graf.

It focuses on the conditions of more than two million orphans in Uganda, whose parents died of AIDS. In fact, experts predict that nearly 35 per cent of Uganda's population is infected with HIV. Infected parents, mostly mothers, decided therefore to write their memory books, which allow the families and especially children to face the inevitable death of their beloved parent and to prepare themselves for life on their own. Stories, fairytales and songs make the children learn more about their traditions, values and stories of the ancestors. The screening will be followed by refreshments.

18.00.
