29 Jan. On occasion of the Holocaust Remembrance Day, Goethe Institut screens, in cooperation with the UNIC (United Nations Information Centre) and the embassies of Israel and Germany in Accra, the documentary film The Rescuers by Michael King.

This movie testifies to the heroic efforts of 12 diplomats, including a Muslim Turk stationed in Greece and a Japanese envoy posted in Lithuania, who used their powers and privileges to save the lives of tens of thousands of Jews during world war two. These individuals took on enormous risks to their own lives to help others in terrible circumstances. The projection is preceded by a brief discussion on the UN Secretary-General's message on the Holocaust Remembrance Day. A discussion on how to keep the memory alive, led by Dr Kwabena Adu-Boahen from the University of Cape Coast, will follow the screening.
