Cairo Opera Theatre is organising its traditional musical events throughout Ramadan. A series of 12 evening concerts at the open air theatre includes musicians from Egypt, Sudan and Indonesia.
One of the most controversial will be Mohamed Mohsen, known for his anti-government repertoire. One of his previous performance at the Opera Theatre in March for the official Arts Celebrations, which was attended by the then interim president, was stopped for political reasons. Mohsen rose to fame during his performances at Tahir Square during the 2011 revolution.
