20 Oct 2009. Young German reggae star Jahcoustix performs live in concert at the Alliance Francaise. His music mixes roots and acoustic reggae and deals with important social issues related to racism and discrimination. It speaks to people all over the world and knows no skin colour, gender discrimination or ideological limitations.

Jahcoustix grew up between Kenya and Egypt and has always been interested in African culture and music. In 1992 in Nairobi he discovered Rastafarians and reggae music and it immediately became the passion of his life. Inspired by bands like Israel Vibration, Bob Marley, Burning Spear and Culture and with the spiritual background of the Rasta culture, Jahcoustix started writing poems and playing guitar as a teenager. In 1998, after returning to Germany, he became part of the band Dubios Neighborhood. His first album, Souljahstice, came out in 2003, followed by Colourblind the following year. Since 2007 Jahcoustix has together with the German reggae star Gentlemen.

The concert starts at 20.00.
