Rumpelstiltskin for Kids

4 September-6 October 2012. The Lilliput Children's Theatre Company presents this play for kids, entitled Rumpelstiltskin, directed by Elton John Duffy.

This classical fairy tale, written by the Brothers Grimm in 1812, tells the story of miller, who lies to a king in order to appear more important and tells him that his daughter can spin straw into gold. In reality, the girl is lazy and has never learned to spin at all. The king shuts the girl in a tower room filled with straw and a spinning wheel: if she will fill the room with gold he will marry her, otherwise he will kill her. The girl is desperate, when a nasty little dwarf, secretly named Rumpelstiltskin, appears. He will help her spinning straw into gold but the girl will have to give him her first born child in return. In the end she has to guess his unusual name to save her child from the little dwarf.
