11 April 2008. Arusha Community Church is hosting an evening of sacred music featuring the Loruvani Lutheran Evangelistic Choir, Makumira Tumaini University Choir and members of the congregation. The programme is a mix of traditional and African sacred music. 18.30. Admission is free but the congregation will be invited to make a voluntary donation to cover the cost of obtaining passports for the Loruvani choir, which is due to tour to Germany later this month.

Based in the Loruvani Lutheran parish in Ilboru in Arusha, the 19-member Loruvani Lutheran Evangelistic Choir performs ancient sacred music, traditional Maasai songs and contemporary pieces composed by its own members. Founded in the late 1960s, the choir privileges an a cappella singing style backed only by drums and traditional percussion instruments.
