8 August 2010. The inaugural Safari International Marathon takes place in Arusha on 8 August. Under the slogan 'Let your running do the Talking', the event is being promoted as Arusha's answer to a similar marathon held every February in Kilimanjaro.

Organisers predict their event will become an annual feature on the running calendar and will attract a large amount of participants: this year they expect up to 2,000 runners, who will compete for cash prizes and trophies. In addition, there will be half-marathons, races for people with physical abilities and a 5 km family race.

The half-marathons begin and end at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium, while the family race begins at Mwenge Roundabout Junction and ends at the stadium.
