South African choir urging for calm in the fight against coronavirus
The Ndlovu Youth choir in South Africa has become an international sensation with their song on preventative measures to curb the spread of coronavirus. The choir received glowing reviews across the continent as their energetic and informative performance received countless shares on social media.
Dressed in colored traditional attire, the choir sings and dances in English and Zulu, advising fellow Africans to remain calm, thoroughly wash their hands and avoid touching their faces.
At the moment, there are dangerous myths and misunderstandings on the Covid-19. In an effort to curb the spread of misinformation on the virus, the group shared their video on twitter purposefully to educate the public. The video runs of runs for 1 minute 6 seconds and is titled, “We’ve Got This - Fight Against Coronavirus/COVID-19”
Ndlovu Youth Choir is known for its colorful performances on the 2019 America’s Got Talent. They were fortunate enough to make it to the final round of the show, winning lots of support from around the continent.
African countries have started recording coronavirus cases, creating lots of panic and confusion among residents. South Africa is one of the hardest-hit countries, with numbers of confirmed cases soaring past 62.
The government has implemented a raft of strict measures by describing the Covid-19 situation as a ‘State of disaster.’ Travel restrictions from the hardest-hit countries have been imposed, and 35 of the 72 land border crossings have been closed. Other countries that have also implemented a wide range of drastic measures following the reports of emerging cases are Ghana, Kenya, and Morocco.
