Ethiopian photographer Aida Muluneh has won the 2010 CRAF International Award of Photography presented in Pordenone, Italy.

The prize has been awarded not only for her own photographs but also for her efforts to establish a photography training centre for young people in Ethiopia to document the realities of the community around them.

Spilimbergo is a town in the province of Pordenone in northeast Italy, which launched a series of prizes for photography in the 1980s, mainly to capture the development of the surrounding culture and community.

Other initiatives developed out of this one, the most famous being CRAF (Centro Ricerca e Archiaviazione della Fotografia) a centre for research, restoration and archiving of film. Much of the sponsorship for these projects comes from the Pordenone industrialists
