8 Sept 2006. Renowned Mozambican singer, guitarist and percussionist Stewart Sukuma performs a mix of pop funk and traditional Mozambican rhythms accompanied by Timbila Muzimba. Stewart began his career in the 1980s with the Orchestra Marrbenta Star de Mocambique, a group of musicians and dancers from southern Mozambique committed to Marrbenta, a form of dance music influenced by Mozambican and Portuguese folk music and western pop. He has since performed internationally with Angelique Kidjo, Abdullah Ibrahim, Oumou Sangare, Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba and he won the UNESCO music award in Mozambique in 1998. 20.30.
