Tewodros Hagos: You and Me

You and Me is the title of the exhibition of work by Tewodros Hagos.

This Ethiopian artist displays hyper-realistic figurative paintings based on real-life experiences in Addis Ababa. His works here focus on construction workers in the city.

Tewodros studied at the School of Fine Arts and Design at Addis Ababa University before leaving for Belgium where he lived for 10 years. He has exhibited his work in Berlin, Antwerp, Rome and Los Angeles as well as Addis Ababa.

He was the winner of the first Ethiopia Creates prize, which was awarded in Los Angeles for the first time this year. The prize promotes the work of Ethiopian artists currently working in Ethiopia. The reward includes a visit to Los Angeles, an exhibition and prize money.
