Theatrical Play on Piracy

25-28 September 2012. This theatrical play, written by Jens-Erwin Siemssen and entitled Atalanta 2012, documents the contemporary phenomenon of piracy in Somalia.

This documentary play stages maritime stories at original sites starring the Tanzanian actors Gambula and Huruma Haule as well as German actors.

The author Siemssen researched the background of piracy by reporting oral witnesses by many people in Africa as well as in Germany.
The play is supported by the Goethe-Institut and the German Embassy.

It will be performed on 25 and 26 September at the TaSUBa Art Festival in Bagamoyo and on 28 September in Dar es Salaam.
