10 Dec 2006-28 Jan 2007. The Ethiopian wildlife and natural history society has a full calendar of events over the festive period. On 10 Dec society members are invited to climb Mount Yerer (3,000 m) near Debre Zeyit southeast of Addis Ababa. Then on 13 Dec Prof. Ermias Dagne of Addis Ababa University will give a talk on common home remedies in the breakfast room of the Ethiopia Hotel (18.00). The following Sat, 16 Dec, there is a visit to the National Herbarium and the Natural History Museum, starting at 09.30. On 26 Dec society members depart for a four-day trip to the Bale mountains in the southeastern Oromia region (until 31 Dec), with an optional stay at Langano on 1-2 Jan and a trip to Arba Minch from 2-6 Jan. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on 7 Jan. On 17 Jan Mengistu Wondfrash gives a talk on the Ethiopian flufftail in the breakfast room of the Ethiopia Hotel at 18.00.
