The fourth edition of WordSlam, the renowned annual poetry event at the Goethe-Institut Lagos, sees participation from established and emerging spoken word artists from Nigeria including Awoko, Cornerstone, Edaoto, Iquo Eke, Jumi (Imole), Sage Hasson, Dagga Tolar, Muri Amulegboja, Jumoke Verissimo, Akeem Lasisi, Ropo Ewenla and special guests Odia Ofeimun and Ben Tomoloju. The poems address such issues as love, religion, politics, city hassles and other dilemmas related to daily life.

The programme includes a new workshop in lyrics, on-stage presentation and general charisma for the students of two Lagosian schools, who will perform together with well known artists.

There will also be a concert by the German-Nigerian afro-beat and reggae musician Ade Bantu and his 12-member band, which will last until late at night.

The event begins at 15.00.
