22-28 July 2008. Double Dutch, Double under Toad and Single Rope are just three of the techniques on trial in the 2008 World Rope Skipping Championships in Cape Town. Teams from 15 countries including South Africa, the United States, China, Belgium and Australia will be competing in the biennial tournament hosted by the South African Gymnastics Federation (SAGF) in partnership with the International Rope Skipping Federation.

Rope skipping is becoming increasingly popular in South Africa, where it was introduced as a development sport in 2002. The focus has been on engaging children from disadvantaged areas such as Cape Town
